Liner solves a small problem that repeats itself in every cupboard in the house: a hard smooth shelf lets a jar walk to the front every time the door swings, and a wire shelf lets small things fall through it. The roll form is what makes this practical, since a kitchen has drawers of six different widths and a liner you cut yourself fits all of them.
Work out the run before you pick a length. A twelve inch wide roll covers a standard drawer bottom and most shelf depths, and the 10, 20 and 30 foot lengths correspond roughly to one cupboard, one kitchen wall and a whole kitchen. Cut it with scissors an eighth of an inch under the drawer width so it lies flat rather than curling up the sides, and lift it when the shelf gets wiped rather than mopping over the top of it.
